How to Develop a Poker Face, by Jerry Lewis.

Some things are just perplexing. This definitely piqued my curiosity. I watched the first couple episodes of a new show on Hulu.com about a British guy, named Jamie Oliver who wanted to “change,” the American school system, and decided to start with Huntington, Virginia. In short, and for the most part,… no more processed food, and he seemed to insist, among other things, that our food be fresh cooked!

Anyway, the first few shows were interesting, however, and all due respect to the man’s purported intent, I wasn’t exactly holding my breathe. Which is to denote that I don’t see corporate interests, and more specifically, huge, enormous, behemoth sized companies, in the processed food industry(ies), with gobs of cash to spend on campaign contributions, as just sitting back and “sucking it up;” at least in terms of foregoing market share, at the minimum.
Please take note, this does not mean I considered the show entirely without merit. Without delving into too many specifics, in deference to brevity, Mr. Oliver did make an effort to educate, at least one family about his ideas for healthful eating. Like I said, I only watched the first few episodes. I spent a year in culinary school myself, as such, nutritional considerations were introduced into my education fairly early on; in short, learning how to eat well, wasn’t why I was watching the show.

What moved me to write this post, was noticing on Hulu.com, that the season finale of Jamie Oliver’s show was being sponsored by several different companies; two of which were food oriented.  Below are the screen shots. No I don’t own any copyrights to ‘their’ correlated copyrighted material. Yes, I am using them under “fair use.” No, I am not an attorney, nor am I a lawyer. This is not legal advice in any way, of what constitutes “fair use,” nor is it any other kind of legal advice.

Please notice what products are sponsoring the show, in the lower right hand area of each picture. In fairness, I want to remind you that other products were sponsoring this episode as well.

That’s right, the first season finale of a show that is basically about trying to feed school children fresh cooked food, was brought to us, in part, by two processed food products!  Hmmm?

I’ll leave it to you whether to laugh, cry, or …

If only…

… I could somehow know when you were reading this and have the sound of a creaky door opening,  just as you started reading the subject to this post.

That said, I’m back: (Actually, insert creaky door here instead)

What happens next remains to be seen. At the very least, I hope this will continue to be a great place to keep all the funny videos I find online organized, so I can continue laughing.

There you go, nefarious plan(s) hatched.
